About

Bobbie Chavez has been in the field of Early Childhood Development for over 35 years, with experience in home based, private, public, and HeadStart. She has both a Bachelor's and Master's in the field from the University of La Verne. Bobbie is a mentor with California Early Childhood Mentoring Program, and currently serves as the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Chair for Orange County Association for the Education of Young Children (an affiliate of NAEYC). Being recently retired as Program Director and Lead Teacher of a district run California State Preschool Program, witnessing the inequities brought to light by the pandemic and social justice movements, and as a woman of color, who raised children as a single parent, Bobbie, like so many others, has lived experience, a passion to bring change, and an understanding that we must first seek change within ourselves, and be willing to have the hard conversations.
