About Me

As the Health Services Director from 2016 to 2022, I supported the Child Development Department's mission to enhance school health services, including access to care and healthcare utilization among low-income children. I fostered strong community relationships, ensuring effective collaboration and resource sharing. My leadership focused on recruiting, training, and supervising a dedicated team, emphasizing continuous quality improvement in health and nutrition services. I managed program planning and implementation, working diligently to meet compliance standards and adapt services to the evolving needs of families. My commitment to equity and inclusion guided my efforts to promote health and family engagement, ultimately enhancing the overall well-being of the children and families we served.

Description of Services Offered

As the Health Services Director, I provided a comprehensive range of health services tailored to the prenatal to five population. These services included:

  1. Health Screenings: Conducted initial health screenings to identify any developmental or health concerns early, ensuring timely interventions.
  2. Nutritional Support: Developed and implemented nutrition programs, including healthy meal planning and nutrition education for families, promoting healthy eating habits.
  3. Parent Education: Offered workshops and training sessions for parents on health and nutrition topics, empowering them to support their child's growth and development.
  4. Referral Services: Established strong connections with community health resources, providing families with referrals to necessary services such as pediatric care, mental health support, and social services.
  5. Ongoing Health Monitoring: Implemented a system for monitoring ongoing health needs, ensuring families receive appropriate follow-up care and support.
  6. Culturally Appropriate Services: Ensured that all health services were developmentally and culturally appropriate, respecting the diverse backgrounds of families served.
  7. Collaboration with Specialists: Coordinated with mental health and nutrition consultants to provide specialized training and resources for staff, enhancing the overall health support system.
  8. Data Analysis for Improvement: Regularly analyzed health data to track progress and identify areas for improvement, fostering a culture of continuous quality enhancement in service delivery.
