About Our Program

Anchoring Our ROOTS supports the holistic wellness needs of children (infant, early childhood, and school-age) and their caregivers with a focus on serving Black and Brown families We offer health coaching community based programs. 

Our mission  is to create restorative family-centered and nature-embodied wellness experiences anchored in Ancestral Wisdom. We do so by supporting the holistic wellness needs of caregivers and future generations. 

Our Values  are centered around experiencing joy, healing and practicing Wellcare steeped in nature and ancestral healing practices 

Our Vision: Our children are as healthy and emotionally sound as the environment in which they are made to thrive. They reflect the deepest part of ourselves and our healing journey. They are also our ancestors’ wildest dreams.

Meet the Team

We are a team of infant early childhood mental health specialists including a childcare provider, a nature based educator, a school psychologist, a public health nurse, a naturopathic physician and a health coach. We have combined robust decades of experience working with BIPOC young children and families in reaching their holistic and educational health and wellness goals.

Description of Services Offered

What to expect: 

For 6 months to a year, a coach will supports you with information about the health, wellness and safety education of the kids in your care. We bring elements of wellness, culture the playful elements of nature indoor and outdoor in a holistic way. As a community member taking care of kids in your home or in their family's home or at a childcare center, our program is designed to cater to your peace of mind as well as your own health and wellness needs. 

Where and When we meet: 

1x-2x/month we meet 1:1 and sometime in group for 1 hour. We provide you with information and coaching about:

  • Nutrition, 
  • Environmental health justice, 
  • Infant mental health, 
  • Setting up your childcare space for nature based learning, including supplies and tools for children in your care
  • Your health and wellness tips, 
  • Pacific NW Indigenous herbal-based curriculum supplies 

At the end of the first quarter and every quarter you receive a stipend for your commitment to the program. We meet in person or virtually, during the week or weekends. Some sessions will be based your scheduled based on your availability and others are based on the pre-scheduled session with a specialty coach.

During quarterly in-person training (1x/quarter), we may also be able to offer you support for your own childcare needs. 

In the spring and summer, we will meet in local green space and have more community events.

Communities Served

This program is designed for Black, Indigenous, Afro-Diaspora, and Latine Community grandparents, community aunties/uncles, family members, family center childcare providers, licensed and/or not currently licensed childcare centers, and Families Friends and Neighbors (FFNs) who support parents of little ones (birth to 5 years old) with their childcare needs.
