Updates from King County Early Learning Coalition in the context of federal government shutdown 11/4/25: 

• A judge has ruled that temporary SNAP funds must be distributed. However, benefits may initially be half the normal amount and could be delayed.

• Governor Ferguson has also committed $2 million per week in emergency funding to support food banks

The Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families presents a variety of child care grant opportunities to support early learning providers. The webpage details funding programs such as the Early Achievers Needs-Based Grant, Child Care Complex Needs Fund, and Early Childhood Equity Grant, including eligibility criteria and application timelines.

Northwest Center has developed a number of online trainings focused on inclusion of children with challenging behaviors and disabilities. All courses are Washington State STARS and OSPI approved.

All children ages 0 to 18 in Washington can receive all routinely recommended vaccines at no cost from a healthcare provider that participates in the Childhood Vaccine Program (CVP). You may be charged an administration fee (a charge for delivering the vaccine), but you don’t have to pay if you can’t afford it. There are about 300 CVP providers in King County, and most require that a child enrolls as a patient to get services.

Adults who are uninsured can also access vaccines at no cost.
