About

Dr. Yamila Lezcano has been in academia for over 15 years serving in various positions with the
most recent role as the Social and Behavioral Sciences Division Head at Florida National
University. She holds a doctoral degree in Human Services with a specialization in Children and Families at Risk. She is also a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and Qualified Clinical
Supervisor with private practice in Miami, Florida. She has over 10 years of experience in the
Infant Mental Health Field and Early Childhood Developmental Disorders, with special interest
in Autism. In addition, she has training in Parent-Child Psychotherapy and holds several
certifications in the field of Infant and Maternal Mental Health. She has extensive experience
serving diverse populations, including drug dependency court clients, foster care, and children
with developmental disabilities. Dr Lezcano was the Program Director for the Miami Mental
Health Awareness Initiative at Albizu University, a grant funded by SAMHSA from 2020 to
2023. She continues to serve her community as a Mental Health Advocate through her
partnership with the Melissa Institute for Violence Prevention and Intervention.
