Frequently Asked Questions

Is there any assistance provided with completing applications?

  • Free proposal assistance, also known as Technical Assistance (TA) is available to support organizations applying to this RFP. Please see the Best Starts’ blog for a list of TA consultants and their contact information. We encourage you to reach out to a TA consultant as early as possible. We cannot guarantee TA consultant availability within five business days of this RFP’s deadline for proposals. Organizations wishing to access TA should email the consultants directly. We encourage you to only contact one TA consultant at a time and allow them 24 hours to respond before contacting any other consultants.

What would be the approximate FTE for a CoP convener?

  • While we are not able to give an actual estimate, a good starting point would be anywhere from 1-4 hours a week depending on the agency’s preferences. That would be approximately 0.025 to 0.1 FTE based on a 40-hour workweek.

Can you tell us more about the rolling application process?

  • During this initial round, we will select the applications that have the best fit for our funding priorities. If more funding is available, we may do rolling applications using the same criteria.

What is the amount of funding each organization can apply for?

  • At this time, we are not asking organizations to apply for any funding amounts as we will determine that based on the completed applications once processed.

For the 8-25 participants, does this mean the cohort delivering services?

  • This is correct, those participating should ideally be supporting P-5 children and families. This could include direct or indirect services.

In order to be a facilitator, does the facilitator application and the agency application need to be completed and submitted?

  • There will be a facilitator application sent out after an agency has been selected.

If our CoP requires an interpreter, will that be provided?

  • You will receive a set amount of funding based on the needs listed on your application and funding available. From there, it will be your agency's responsibility to allocate that funding appropriately - engaging an interpreter as needed. WestEd can assist you with those efforts, but will not be responsible for sourcing the interpreter for your CoP.
