Best Starts for Kids' Workforce Development Strategy emphasizes the implementation and practice of equity at every level of Prenatal - 5 caregiving systems, in order to achieve that all of King County's children are born and grow to be happy, healthy, safe, and thriving. Considering the detrimental impact of racism on the individual and social health and well-being, Dr. Kendi will speak on:

  • At this juncture in history, what does it mean to raise anti-racist children. Why anti-racist? or why does race matter?
  • What are the benefits or raising anti-racist children? (What are the short and long term consequences if we do not do anything?)
  • What role can parent and care providing workforce play in raising anti-racist children?
  • How about agencies/organizations? How can they engage in anti-racist early childhood development?

Following the presentation, all participants will have an opportunity to engage in small group discussions to apply Dr. Kendi's ideas to enhance our supports to young children and families in King County.

*Please note that the session will not be recorded nor available at a later time.
