This 5-part series will support Home Visitors and Early Learning Specialists in deepening their understanding of trauma and Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH) using racial and healing justice perspectives. Participants will learn about the basic underpinnings of trauma during the first 5 years of life, the impact of racial trauma on development and the manifestations of racial trauma in IECMH. Each session will include experiential exercises, applicable tools, and embodied practices to support participants in implementing healing-centered practices for themselves and in their work with children and families in the community.
Session Topics:
- Session 1 - “Why us, now?” Trauma Basics
- Session 2 - Racial Trauma and Belonging
- Session 3 - Identifying and metabolizing vicarious trauma
- Session 4- Metabolizing Collective Trauma with Healing Justice
- Session 5 (IN PERSON - 9 AM - 2 PM, details to follow) - Planting Seeds for Collective Healing
