The Vulnerability of Fathers, Paternal Mental Health, and its Impact on Families
Fatherhood Series 3 of 3
Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health
Details
This workshop is part 3 of a 3 part series on Fatherhood. You can find part 1 here and part 2 here. While attending all three workshops is not required, it is highly recommended for the best experience.
Most perinatal programs, early childhood programs, and professional trainings overlook the positive role fathers play in the lives of young children, as well as their vulnerability in terms of mental health and their challenges in parenting. Conversations regarding the father's experience during the perinatal period and in early childhood with an emphasis on paternal mental health will take place during this talk. Through a reflective and experiential approach participants will deepen their understanding of how to support fathers and families by reflecting on their assumptions and biases about fathers.
