Giselle Zapata-García

About

Originally from Panama, Giselle has spent several decades in Washington State. With a
degree in social work, she has held various positions from Health Access Specialist to
Director, always ensuring that the most vulnerable are connected to resources while
assisting them to navigate the complex health care system. Giselle is devoted to ensuring
that families and individuals have access to culturally and linguistically appropriate care and
has more than 20 years of experience in contributing to reduce health disparities in
Washington State. She has dedicated many years to educating community members how
the health care system works and to be civically engaged, so that they can be empowered
in taking charge of their health. Working directly with the community and developing key
community partnerships has been central to the way she works. Giselle is currently the Co-
Lead of the COVID-19 Latinx Community Response Team under Equity & Community
Partnerships (ECP) and the Equity & Community Engagement Manager in the Access &

Outreach department of Public Health – Seattle & King County (PHSKC). She has been one
of the Spanish speaking trainers/presenters for King County’s COVID-19 and Health Equity
Training and Capacity Building Program (TCBP) whose goal is to ensure all communities in
King County have the knowledge and skills needed to stay safe and healthy. When not
working and volunteering, Giselle enjoys traveling with her children and grandkids.
