In this session, we will provide an overview of a new culturally responsive assessment tool developed by Best Starts for Kids in partnership with The Capacity Collective. The Culturally Responsive Measurement Tool - Protective Factors (CRMT-PF) is an instrument to measure protective factors in families with young children. Measuring protective factors is a strengths-based approach to understanding families’ health and wellbeing. The CRMT-PF was developed and tested with communities and community-based organizations in King County.

This session will provide an introduction to the measurement tool itself to help you decide if it may be a good fit for your program. We will also discuss first steps in the implementation process, from taking stock of your current assessments to beginning to prepare staff and families to use the tool.

There are 3 dates available for this session:

  • Thursday, May 30 from 12 - 1 PM
  • Tuesday, August 20 from 2 - 3 PM
  • Wednesday, Nov 6 from 9 - 10 AM

The content for this workshop will be the same on all three dates, so please only register for 1 of the available dates.

Note: This workshop is recommended for partners who serve families with young children and offer ongoing services to those families. The intended audience is program managers or other staff who would be overseeing implementation and have decision-making power around whether or not to implement this tool. The tool is currently available in English, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese, though other languages are currently being tested. Further training on implementing and administering the CRMT-PF will also be offered, and individualized implementation support is available to BSK-funded organizations through Best Starts technical assistance and capacity building support.
