Looking Beyond the Report: Holding the Stories of Families Impacted by the Child Welfare System
Details
Supporting young children and families impacted by the child-welfare system involvement can bring additional complexity to our work with families. Navigating through the murky water can often feel overwhelming and challenge our ability to truly hear families' stories from their perspectives. Many families also experience tremendous hardship due to various systems of oppression that further complicates their realities. Home visitors and early learning professionals are invited to join this space to reflect on our experiences in our roles, deepen shared understanding of various ways in which child-welfare involvement impacts us and the families we serve, and how we can show up in ways that promote healing. We will discuss various ways in which we can play a key role in the lives of families during the critical time of child-welfare involvement.
STARS credits are offered for this workshop.
