9-month Community of Practice Overview:
- October 12, 2024 (in-person kickoff event and first session) to June 7, 2025 (in-person last session and celebratory closing)
- Multidisciplinary facilitators with diverse backgrounds and experiences sharing topics embedded in equity and social justice
- 1 day per month for 3.5 hours of didactic and practical application of topic covered (facilitated via Zoom spaces)
- 1 day per month of 1.5 hour mentoring sessions
- Intended for child care health consultants and child care providers
The World Around Me: Grounding Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health and Social Justice in Child Care Settings is a 9-month community of practice with two main components:
- Deepening infant and early childhood mental health knowledge in five different areas
- Reflective Practice in small groups to explore implementation of learnings.
This community of practice will present and examine foundational concepts in the context of supporting child care providers and children in child care:
- Infant and early childhood mental health
- Global child development
- Working with children with different abilities
- Nutrition and health
- Community care and sustainability
Grounded in social justice and equity, this community of practice will encourage child care health consultants and child care providers working in King County to engage in connection, reflection, and community to support infant and early childhood mental health for children birth-to-five.
No formal degrees are necessary. We welcome all individuals supporting children in child care in King County from all cultures and linguistic backgrounds.
